After McMahon had left her Ready Room, Jasmine opened up a channel =/\= Somers to Lee: Report to my Ready Room =/\= she said and closed the link, then she called up the woman's file and waited.


=/\= Acknowledged, Captain. I am on my way. =/\= Lee replied as she had just stepped out of the crew lounge.

=/\= Acknowledged Lieutenant, Somers out =/\= she said and closed the link.

Arriving at the Captain's Ready Room, Lee triggered the motion to make the chime to alert her arrival.

- Captain's Ready Room -

The buzzer going off startled her "ENTER," she said, and the doors opened, admitting Lieutenant Lee. She looked up with a smile "Ah, Lieutenant, please have a seat," Somers said you must be wondering why I have called you here?" she asked.

"Well, thank you," Lee stated as she stepped into the room and the door closed behind her. She moved to the first chair and started to take her seat. "Yes, Ma'am, I am curious about what this could be all about."

"Well, you have been with us for some time now, and your position as the ship's Alien Archaeologist/Anthropologist and Linguist Specialist has been relatively unused to the extent is should be, so I am making you my new Chief Science Officer. You will still fill in for the current posts you are in, but your main responsibilities will be in running the Tomcats' Science Department. What are your thoughts on that?" Somers asked.

"Are you pulling my chain, ma'am?" Lee replied with a sense of shock and awe. "I am not sure how to react other than to accept. I will give it my best and serve the ship with loyalty and dedication." Lee is still in shock. "I never expected to be in this position, but I accept with honour."

*Gives her one of her trademark looks* "I do not pull people's chains, Lieutenant. I know it is a shock, but it is what it is; this appointment will be in full effect at the start of our next mission, so you will have until then to prepare everything for your new post. I will expect you to be fully in the Chief Science Officer's office at the start of the next mission," Somers said and waited.

Still in disbelief of the situation and in full shock, "Ma'am, I will get my affairs in order and get things shifted to the new position as fast as possible." Alexandra replied. "Thank you for this honour, and I am very thankful for this level of trust from you."

"No worries, Lieutenant. I need a CSO, and you can run a department; it is your skill that got you your new post, so the moment we dock and the word is given, you will be on Shore leave until further notice," Jasmine said.

"I hope to serve the crew and the ship proudly as I work to bring the scientific aspects of the mission into a rhythmic balance for a smooth composition to bring all our missions to their perfect codas," Lee responded. "I do appreciate this vote of confidence. I hope you also get to enjoy some downtime before your next phase of duties."

*Smiling* "Thank you, Lieutenant. I intend to. Now, if you have no further questions, we are finished here," Somers said and waited to see if Lee had any questions.

"I have no further questions. I will let you get about your tasks at hand." Lee replied and made way to the doors.

Somers nodded and watched Lee leave her Ready Room. She sat back down and sighed; she was in her early forties, but she felt extremely older at this moment in time.
