It wouldn't do to suddenly wake up dead. "We'll be ready, Sir", Trabor said.
"I see, well, I am going to make a change, Captain Tabor, you are now the New CAG, Captain Jones, you will take Wing Commander's post, but you will also act as Captain Tabor's Executive Officer in the Squadron. I do not want to lose your knowledge, but this is final." She said, then looking at Markov, "Major Markov, please see to it that the rosters and such are put correctly to reflect the new changes", Somers said.
There was a look of shock on the faces of both pilots. Markov had known that the decision was going to happen and cut in front of his friend Jones before he could react. "Will do, Colonel. But both of you pay attention to this. Tabor, you're the new kid on the block compared to Jones. Listen to his advice and you'll get on fine with me." Again, Jones tried to get his say in, "And Captain Jones, not a peep of complaint about this, please. There is reasoning to it."
- Security Office - After Meeting -
After an interesting meeting, Jasmine decided to go meet her new Chief of Security, so finally arriving at the Security Officer, she entered and saw a Fleet Officer, Lieutenant, going over some paperwork. "So you must be Lieutenant Antonio Bertolli Jr?" She asked.
"Aye, Captain, I am Bertolli, but you may call me Tony. I was just reviewing some of the ship's specs, trying to get a feel for the Tomcat."
"Pleased to meet you, Lieutenant. I am Lieutenant Colonel Jasmine Somers, the Commander of this ship. Normally, I would meet you in my ready room, but I decided I need a change from the norm, so I thought I would come to you to receive any Security reports," Somers said.
"Well, Captain, I appreciate you coming here to welcome. The crew has been most gracious in assisting me in getting my things moved in here. I travel light... As far as reports go, there doesn't appear to be anything major at the moment. With us headed into more familiar territory, there isn't too much of a threat, but we will remain vigilant and continue with the current security procedures in place until I can review them." Glancing at his notes, he continues...
"The shore leave was almost uneventful. One of my security officers had to break up an argument between two crewmembers who were disagreeing about which ship they've been on was better. I gave them an extra mid-watch patrol, walking through the ship underway. I assumed that would be sufficient instead of going through formal punishment and putting something in their permanent records." Laying the reports aside, Anthony turns his full attention to his new CO...
"Once I get through this stack of reports and get this a little more organised, I may have another report for you later on. Even with us headed back to Federation Airspace, I still want to inspect crew issue weapons and armour, it may be up to Starfleet standards but I never trust a weapon that I have not touched myself, I guess I'm a little over cautious, but all it takes is one away team when a phaser doesn't fire to make you a believer."
"I'm not sure how you feel about training scenarios, but maybe if time permits, we could run one while in "Friendly Waters" to use an old Naval term, just to knock the rust off from the shore leave and get the crew ready for whatever comes next."
Smiling openly, "We will see Lieutenant" The Rifles do not need that much in the way of training, but we will meet again later to discuss this, okay?" She asked.
"That would be fine, Captain, maybe we could discuss training in the future", he said. "Captain, is there anything else I can do for you or prepare for you, ma'am? I know I'm new to this ship and this is my first CoS position, and I'm looking forward to working with you and the crew."
"Nothing else at this moment, Lieutenant, but I will leave you to get acquainted with your new duty", Somers said, nodded once, then left the Security Office. Stacking the papers neatly on his desk, he reviews his agenda for his first duty day aboard the Tomcat... Reports - Check Report to CO - Check Inspect Security Console on the Bridge- Meet the Other Officers - Locate the Gym- Ok, met the CO, took care of the reports, well it's on to the bridge now, I will probably meet several of the other officers there as well.
Stepping out of his quarters and heading toward the bridge, Tony nods to many of the passers-by in the passageways, noting the number of Marines scattered throughout the ship. This just keeps getting better and better, he thinks to himself, just before stepping onto the bridge.
- Science Department -
After she chatted with the new chief of Security, Somers sought out her new Chief Science Officer. Entering the science department was something new for her; the place had never been used until now. She realised that having more than just Marines stationed on the ship would be a boon. Entering, she seeks out Lieutenant Sterling, spying her, Jasmine walks over holding out her hand, "Lieutenant Sterling, I presume? I am your new CO, Lieutenant Colonel Jasmine Somers, and welcome to the Tomcat, if you have any questions, feel free to ask" Somers said after breaking the handshake. "Ah, Colonel Somers, it's nice to meet you finally", Maia said, returning the handshake pleasantly.
