A Change Around

Mission: S04 Episode 02 The Hackers Backdoor (Incidentals)

Timeline: During Current mission before Serina's Delivery day

Jasmine was in her Ready Room getting the "paperwork" ready. This was for switching Lieutenants Winchester and Donovan around in positions. Of late, Lieutenant Winchester had vastly improved; she had read reports on how well he was training some of her crew to be pilots, and she did not mind, as more crew who were combat flight qualified meant more replacements in a pinch. But now this was a different case, and she got the Padds ready for both officers who should soon be arriving. It had been some time since they had left the Starbase and had gotten underway.

*CRR door buzzer sounds*

"ENTER!" the Captain said and looked up as they walked in.

Paul entered the Captain's ready room with his wife in tow, still mad at him for some reason that he had no Idea why she was miffed at him. He said," You wanted to see us both, Captain?" as both of them came to stop in front of her.

Serina looked back at Paul and said," What the hell have you done this time, Paul?" knowing that in the past, Paul had been in trouble with the command team of the Tomcat as she placed her hands on her hips.

Paul replied," I am in the Dark here as much as you are, my love," as he looked back at Somers for some information as to their summons to her Sanctum.

"Please, both of you, sit down", the Captain said and waited till both were sitting, then she continued ", Okay, I am going to be switching you both around department-wise. This is mainly due to Lieutenant Donovan, who is due to give birth any day now and for other reasons on which I am not obliged to say. As of today, Lieutenant Winchester, you will be the CAG, and Lieutenant Donovan will be DCAG. This change around will last until I deem it otherwise, understood?" She asked.

"Understood, Captain," responded Paul, looking back at his wife, who was not a happy camper at the news that had been delivered to them. Paul asked," Does that mean that Serena will be on light duties as of now, Captain?"

"I am sitting here in the room, Paul," Serena remarked with some venom in her voice after being removed from CAG and demoted to her Husbands role on the Ship.

"Yes, she will be on light duties until after the birth. She will only be able to fly the Tomcat and will not be assigned to an Away Team. I understand this may not sit well with everyone, but are you okay with that, Lieutenant Winchester?" the Captain asked.

"Fair enough, Captain, you will have my report of Evaluations of the pilots within the next hour," replied Paul, looking back at his wife, " And I did not know this was going to happen, Serena, you have not shamed the house,"
"First of all, I don't like being looked down on as the underdog. Something I can't live with myself..." Serena paused as she tried to collect her thoughts and failed miserably. With tears falling down her face, "I have failed at my job, my pilots, and brought shame to my home. Second, I did agree to this, and I don't regret my decision to be DCAG. This is temporary until the mission is complete and I can go back..." Serena said she squirmed in her seat; all she wanted to do was cry her eyes out.

Looking at Serina with some sympathy, "You will only go back to CAG if I decide to switch you around again, but for now, that will not happen. This would have happened even if you were not expecting a baby; now it is a case of the unborn's welfare. So, until after the birth and a short ship-based maternity leave, I will assign you light duties and the piloting of my ship. You will retain your title of DCAG, but your duties will be to fly my ship and, most importantly, care for your child. Do you understand, Lieutenant Donovan?" the Captain asked.

" I will fly my lady with no problem, but you are going to have to have seat belts on the chairs. However, when this is finished, I expect to be back flying," Serina said as her face said it all.

"We shall see about the Seatbelts *a small smile* as for the rest, you are on Light duties as of this day", the Captain said and looked at Winchester.

"Lieutenant Winchester, as you have been pulling duty above your station and training some of my crew as pilots, good job on that, and you will take over as my CAG immediately" She paused as she tapped something on her computer, then looked at the pair.

"All CAG command codes and clearences have now been transferred to Mr Winchester, and the same of the DCAG codes to you, Lieutenant Donovan. Do you both have any questions before I dismiss you?" the Captain asked.

" None from me, Ma'am," replied Paul, looking back at his commanding officer. He thought to himself - What is Serina going to do after this?- as he knew she was not going to be happy about this and that he was going to be yelled at when they returned to their Quarters.

"Nothing for now, Captain " Serena's eyes hit the floor. Now she wondered what she would do now that Paul was made CAG and she was basically a nobody. Anger flashed as she left the CO's office.

Somers looked at Serina, then at Winchester "For what is coming, Lieutenant Winchester, you have my sympathies," the Captain said, indicating Winchester's wife.

"Okay, both of you dismissed", the Captain said and watched a dejected Serina and worried Paul leave her Ready Room. When they had gone, Lucy walked in.

"How did it go, Captain?" the Yeoman asked.

*Sighing heavily* "I am so glad I am single, I kind of feel bad for Winchester, he is going to be in for a rough ride" Jasmine responded "oh that reminds me your request for Security and Tactical training has come through, the test you done put you in the top five of all those who took the course, you will ship out for Earth after we have completed our current mission, your destination is Starfleet Academy, you will pass out as an Ensign, congratualations Lucy" Somers said.

The MCPO flopped down on the chair, shocked. Jasmine pulled out a bottle of Best Brandy and two glasses. She filled them both up and offered one to Lucy, who nodded.

"Salute", Jasmine said, "here is to a high passing grade" She added, Lucy, still in shock, copied and both knocked the shots back in one gulp. Lucy choked a little; it was quite strong. oO Going to have to find me a new Yeoman soon, Oo Jasmine thought.
