After Dodd and Hawksley left, Jasmine opened another file and updated it, then tapped her Commbadge.

=/\= Somers to McMahon, report to my Ready Room on the Tomcat =/\= she said.

Maria sat in her quarters reading an old-fashioned book she had found on the starbase about a young woman who gets bitten and is changed into a vampire. When she received the summons from the Captain. She replied, =/\= On my way, McMahon out.=/\=, placing the book on the table next to her and then rose, putting her jacket back on, and began checking her hair before heading out.

- Outside the Captain's Ready room -

20 minutes later...

Maria stood outside the room, still wondering why she had been called here and for what reason, and here she was about to find out. She pressed the door chime and waited to be called in to find out what fate had in store for her.

"Enter, Lieutenant," Somers said, and in walked McMahon, her Operations Officer. "Please have a seat, Lieutenant," she said

Maria entered the room and took the seat that was offered. She said, "Lieutenant McMahon, reporting as ordered, Sir," still wondering why she had been called here. She asked, " Sir, if I may, why have you called me here?"

*studies the woman* "You are one of my Operations Officers, correct, Lieutenant?" the Captain said straight-faced, showing little or no emotion.

"Yes, Ma'am, that I am," replied Maria. She continued, "As we haven't had a Chief in the department, I noticed a lot of PADD'S on the desk," knowing full well that if they had not been attended to, maybe things would not have gotten done. She finished, " So, I filed them and found out what supplies were needed."

"Hmm, recently we have had a new Operations Officer join us; he will be joining us for the next mission. Also, I need someone in a position that has been empty too long, and I thought of you, Lieutenant," Somers said,

"Who, me?" replied Maria. Looking surprised by the news. She continued, "Thank you, Ma'am. I will not let you down." She showed confidence in her ability.

"I hope you will be Lieutenant; I hope you will be. Now a new Operations Officer is coming aboard at Starbase 51; he will have to go through Orientation, then he will likely be directed to seek you out," Somers said.

"Very well, Sir," replied Maria. She knew her first port of call was the cargo bay to check the supplies were due to be delivered, and the crew was ready to receive them.

"Good luck, Lieutenant; of course you do know you are the new Pigeon," Somers said.

"Pigeon? Ma'am?" she asked, raising an eyebrow with a confused look on her face at what the Captain had said.

*smiling* "What sound does a Pigeon make, Lieutenant! COO, what is the acronym for Chief of Operations?" The Captain responded.

"COO, Ma'am," replied Maria, realising the joke that she had just walked into. She continued, "It is the sound a pigeon makes."

"Exactly, Lieutenant, back to the new Operations Officer: it is a Vulcan, so easy on the jokes, but no doubt whoever is giving the Orientation will make sure he reports to you," she said.

"Aye, Ma'am," replied Maria, knowing that she was going to have someone new in her department. She thought to herself, oO Let's see how well the guys take to me being the boss for real now Oo just having been promoted to Chief Operations Officer. "There was one issue I was going to have to deal with, Ma'am "

"Yes, you are, Lieutenant. You will have to expect the new Operations Officer to visit you to report in, likely before the next mission," Jasmine said.

"We have had several deliveries go to the USS Albion and two other ships in the Past week," she stated, giving her first report to the Captain as the new Chief.

"Sorry, deliveries to the Albion? That ship is not in the Mira Sector, so what is this thing about deliveries?" Somers asked.

"I know, Ma'am. I checked before I came up here, and I contacted the Albion's Port of Call, Quartermaster, and I was told that it was above my Pay grade," replied Maria.

She sighed, "Okay, I think we are done here. Your new Operations Officer will likely report to you at some point; be nice; remember what has been given can be taken away, and Captain Somers is not above removing something, understood?" Jasmine asked.

"I understand, Ma'am," replied Maria as she rose from her chair. She continued, " What about the Supplies?" hoping the Captain would deal with it rather than her.

"The Supplies will be up to you to sort out; consider it one of your first jobs as the new Chief of Operations" Jasmine said.

"Excellent, now if you have no further questions or such, I will let you go so you can arrange your new Department!" She said.

"Thank you, Ma'am," Maria replied, turning to head back to the door to start full Time as the Chief Operations Officer aboard the Tomcat.
