The Marine deck was alive with controlled urgency.

Armor seals locked. Tactical tricorders came online. Phaser rifles were checked and secured. The CSAR team stood ready.

This was not a search. This was not a recovery of equipment. This was bringing one of their own home. The final authorization came through.

Elora turned from the transporter controls and faced her Marines. The tactical display behind her showed Galen IV, highlighting the compromised Drop Pod site, Rally Point Bravo, and the suspected enemy communications relay.

No wasted time. No unnecessary words.

"Listen up."

"Lieutenant Benson is alive. She is mobile, and she has already survived an enemy attempt to manipulate her."

She indicated the Drop Pod site. "Landing Zone Alpha is compromised. We do not approach unless required."

The display shifted.

"We move to Bravo. Ghost Team finds and counters the enemy relay. Hammer Team keeps us protected. Angel Team stays ready for Benson. Benson is a smart cookie she's going to go up I feel it."

Her eyes moved across the team. "The enemy has cloaked raiders, electronic warfare, and possibly personnel on the surface. They want us isolated."

A pause.

"They made that mistake already." She picked up her rifle.

"Lieutenant Benson survived because she made the right decisions. Treat her like the capable officer she is."

Elora looked toward the team. "Our mission is simple. Find her. Protect her. Bring her home."

Her combadge then chirped to life:

=/= Rykov, this is S'earr. You are approved for deployment. Good luck. =/=

2nd Lieutenant Elora Sirah Rykov tapped her combadge.

=/= Reaper Actual copies. CSAR team is deploying now. We will return with Lieutenant Benson. Rykov out. =/=

She raised her hand. "Authentication protocol."

The Marines straightened.

"Challenge: Who carries the lantern?"

The response came immediately. "Those who refuse the darkness!"

Elora nodded. "Good."

She stepped onto the transporter platform with the CSAR team. "Move fast. Stay quiet. Trust your training."

Her eyes met the transporter operator. "Energize."
