"I would be honored to see a learning center, but at some point I would like to learn more about the religion of Cait even if you can't take me to a temple, I will review all you can provide me about your religious customs and practices. I find that aspect of a culture most sincere."
S'earr smiled, if such a thing could be noticed through his fur without appearing predatory. He lead her to the knowledge centre where he hoped she could absorb what she wanted in culture and traditions. As they walked through the doors the centre seemed to be carved from white stone, articles within cabinets lined the walls on display. There were a few others present but it would give Alexandra a chance to immerse herself in the field she was a specialist in.
"Hello." A female Caitian in golden fur, graceful in appearance, slender in feature. "Welcome to the knowledge centre, is there anything I can do for you today?"
"Well, thank you. I am very curious as to your history, religion and overall culture. My friend here was showing me around as best he can for what is permitted." Lee replied, even though she knew it was a simulation. But she was very impressed with the details S'earr included in the program. "I am wanting to start with how your educational system evolved and what specialties your culture focuses upon. Can you assist?"
"Of course." The female Caitian spoke leading Alexandra to a console that had a holographic component. There she showed but also verbally explained the various branches of education, training and touched very briefly on the religious aspects. She showed how males are taken for training at various establishments, females are educated for leadership and some for religious positions. It seemed that everyone had a purpose, almost like a path had been set out for them at birth.
"Males generally are placed within military fields including engineering and construction. Females trained in the sciences, medical, religious and governance. There can be exceptions made but at the granting of the Overseer." The female spoke as she used the holographic display to illustrate the points she was making.
"Alright, I am understanding that in Caitian culture, the females are the upper part of society and sciences. Outside of engineering, the males are more of a warrior cast or a labor cast. I am hoping that does not seem offensive, but that is the observation I am making. Is that correct?" Lee responded as she felt the hologram was sort of now stealing the show from S'earr, but yet he is the one responsible for the program. Lee was however enjoying the education and the company of S'earr and the holographic Caitians.
"Males are the subservient gender of the caste, correct." The female answered. S'earr stood silently, listening, hoping that this swarm of cultural information was not overbearing for Alexandra.
"So, I am curious and hope this does not offend. As Caitians branch out from Cait, do females operate as the command structure of your spacecraft? Do males have any chance to command or lead in an equal level as the females?" Lee asked very curious as she had only ever met three male Caitians.
"Our Defense Force is entirely male operated. Though its rare our ships leave the system in the larger scope of space politics. Our females instead stay on the Homeworld, some are chosen to be guardians, others leaders in specific fields. Some females are known to leave the Homeworld but they always have a home here should they wish to return." The holographic Caitian spoke, she even pulled up statistics from the Caste to show the number of males to females that leave the Homeworld and how stacked it was in the male side of the data.
"This is fascinating. A society that is matriarchal, and yet the females seldom leave the planet. I am really learning a lot, thank you. So in the terms of Caitian Intergalactic Relations, the males tend to make the calls off-world, I know they have doctrine from Cait to follow in those decisions, am I correct in that thought?" Lee responded still full of amazement about how Cait society and culture functioned so systematically from the outsider's perspective.
"Generally speaking, yes." The hologram answered. "What males do off the Homeworld is their own doing as long as it does not violate caste laws." The hologram answered.
"If you wish, I have texts that you can read that might help you. Our laws can appear complicated to non Caitians. I can also explain myself some areas at least from a males perspective." S'earr added.
"I look forward to this continuing education. As I learn more about Cait and Caitian culture and society, I am one day hoping to physically visit the planet and see the real place you came from and experience it firsthand. I hope that will be permitted at some point." Alexandra stated in response to S'earr's offer.
"Such a venture will need permission from the Overseer. She controls access from outsiders. The visa process is lengthy, but it is possible." While what he said was true, the process was indeed a lengthy one, it was also strictly monitored. A Caste so rich in culture and tradition the Overseer was tasked with preserving it from cultural contamination.
"I know we have a ways to go before I am accepted into the fold if our relationship should take that turn. I would still like to work to make the arrangements as a anthropologist at the least because all you have shared is a vast educational high for me and to be able to learn more actually on Cait would help me with my career and being a better friend if that is all that becomes of us. I do however want to pursue the path of us for as long as we can and see what happens, I know somethings humans do without commitments are not necessarily the same for your species, so I am doing my best to be as self controlled in my reactions and respecting the boundaries as I do not ever want to give the wrong impression or start a process I myself am not willing to commit to at this stage. But I do have some desire to know more about you directly as some point." Alexandra replied. Again she wanted to hug him but knowing her direct touch would imprint on him and while she did like S'earr, she was also a woman who liked to take all her relationships slowly and cautiously as she has been burn by ex-lovers. She did have a strong desire to pursue as long of a relationship with S'earr and if they were to have a commitment, she needed to be his friend first and make sure they nurtured what they felt between them to the right moment before it was at the point of no going back.
"Perhaps when we join the Tomcat, we may sit and talk. You can ask question and I can answer as best I can based on my own experiences?" S'earr offered, knowing that sometimes seeing was one thing, but a good question & answer session could reveal far more detail.
"I am most thrilled to work that in to the mix for our future encounters. I never give up a chance to do an educational q and a session. I am looking forward to it." Alexandra replied with a school girl grin on her face.
