Location: USS Tomcat Various
Timeline: During Mission

[ON]

Maggie held firmly to Todd's hand. She was nervous, as she usually was when talking to the Red Shirts. She'd spent most of her career as a low-level pilot, trying to avoid trouble. The problem was it had a way of finding her. Or it HAD until recently. She smiled weakly but took a breath.

"It'll be ok, right?" She asked Todd. She'd opted for civilian clothes for this appointment, being after hours, but now she was regretting it. She wore a long black dress, sandals that matched, the red lipstick that she had put on after work, and simple jewellery. Still, she looked nice, and she still turned heads, which was still important to her. As long as she didn't vomit, she'd be ok. The morning sickness had already started, and it was so annoying.

"You're going to be fine. Honest." Todd remained calm and carried a soothing presence. "It's the Captain! We've known her for, well, a while now. You longer." Hewitt eased his voice on the main bridge.

Todd firmly, strongly held her petite hand in his larger, El-Aurian paw. "We are solid together. That's never going to change, not now, not ever. Now let's chime this door, Maggie." Todd, annoyingly as he does, has to nudge Maggie in situations involving authority, be it in a holodeck program or real life. "Press the chime."

Maggie gave Todd a LOOK. She pressed the chime. "Thank you," she said.

"ENTER" Somers said, looking up a little surprised as the doors opened and two junior officers entered.

"Ma'am, Lts. LeFebvre and Hewitt, reporting." She said aloud.

"Please come in and have a seat. I know one of you well, the other I am not familiar with!" She said, then looked at Maggie, "Lieutenant LeFebvre, how is Lieutenant Winchester treating you as Raider Two? It must still be a little strange for someone who came to the ship as a Chief auxillary pilot to end up as DCAG and Raider Two in fighters?" The Captain asked.

Todd stayed glued to Maggie’s side as they stepped fully into the ready room, his larger El-Aurian hand still wrapped protectively around her petite one. Concern tightened his chest at what the Captain might say, but he kept his voice low and only for Maggie.

“We’re solid, love. Whatever she says, I’ve got you and our baby,” he murmured, giving her hand a gentle, reassuring squeeze.

He lifted his gaze to Capt. Somers, steady but wary. “Ma’am… before we talk about Raider Two, Lieutenant LeFebvre and I are married. And Maggie’s pregnant with our child. We wanted you to hear it from us first.” Todd steadfastly read out. Todd nervously blurted out.

Maggie blinked. Well. He wasn't handling it as well as she had thought. She nodded, though. "Yes," she said. What else could she say?

She looked at the pair. "I should rename this ship the USS Love Boat!" she said half-jokingly. "Please, both have a seat, and Lieutenant Hewitt, allow your better half to speak if you will, at least where this news is concerned", noting how he blurted the news out at the door.

She waited till the pair were seated "Okay, I want Lieutenant LeFebvre to answer my Raider two questions and the following: who married you and when is the baby due?" She asked.

Todd’s face relaxed in relief. A paleness was taking over his usual colour. He turned to Maggie as his gaze totally blocked out what the Captain had just asked LeFebvre regarding Winchester... Couldn’t he believe he had just met Captain Jasmine now? They had many get-togethers on the ship, as well as annual awards… This had shocked him.

Maggie laughed, but sat. "Well. We haven't officially married yet. I guess it's reverse order," she said. "Since I am human and Todd is El Aurian, it's still a regular length pregnancy; 8.5 months," she said. "I still plan to work until the doctors say I can't," she said. "I am very fit and healthy, and dedicated to work."

*nods* "Excellent news, what of Lieutenant Winchester, and you settling into DCAG?" the Captain responded.

"I haven't told him yet, but I don't expect it to impact my job at all," she said. "I plan to work until I give birth. I won't let you down, nor the crew," she said. "Winchester is our next stop," Maggie said.

*nods* She looks at Hewitt, "So Mr Hewitt, how are you taking all this?" She asked him.

Hewitt looked to Maggie for direction, then back to the captains. “Ma’am, I have been in training and under the mentorship of Chief Hawksley. I have been on the Tomcat as an Engineer.” He beamed, so proud of his job. He loved engines.

“Captain Somers,” Todd looked at his Captain in the eyes. “I apologise for my…” Todd’s forehead furrowed as he said, “Abruptness. It was unnecessary.”

"You were nervous, nothing wrong in that, I mean, I was nervous when I reported to my first Marine Regiment over thirty years ago, I know my experience was not the same exactly, but the nerve bit is. *looks at Hewitt's file, then back up at him* So Todd, when are you planning to go through with the wedding ceremony?" She asked.

Todd’s face immediately flushed. He was embarrassed by the question, especially from the Captain of all people. “Ma’am.” He did his best to muster a reply.

“I believe we will talk regarding Maggie’s parents, my parents. And I will ensure a proper wedding date is set.” He gestured to Maggie’s hand, partial at his side. “We have recently been engaged. Best day of my life, Ma’am.” Todd beamed, holding his head high as he saw Maggie at his side.

Maggie couldn't help but laugh. And she thought she was nervous doing this.

"Yes, we have a lot of planning to do. OH! That's the other thing-we will need to be reassigned quarters. I guess we should probably do that...make arrangements for the baby, too." She said. She squeezed Todd's hand, reminding him to calm down a little. "What do we need to do for that? Is there anything official?" She asked. Of course, she'd never done this before.

She looked at them both "Lieutenant Hewitt can move in with you in your quarters, Maggie. They were redesigned to accommodate such events, especially as space on the ship is limited *Looks at Hewitt* Lieutenant, when you have moved out and settled in Lieutenant LeFebvre's quarters, notify Chief Stone, as he is our C.O.B., he will sort the administrative side out. Any questions, either of you?" She asked.

Maggie nodded. "Ok, that will work," she said. "Yeah, I have a bunch, BUT those are probably best left to Ross," she said. "Even if he is a jerk," she muttered under her breath. She still hadn't forgiven him for not panicking with her.

Todd’s El Aurian physiology was made to handle stressful events over a lifetime, a few lifetimes in fact. So, this level of stress he experienced, informing the Captain, who didn’t even remember him! He felt a tad sheepish. He felt like telling Maggie's father he got her daughter pregnant, oh wait. That would have to happen, too. OMG. He was flushing once more.

His El Aurian DNA then triggered a physiological response to stress, protecting his DNA as he suddenly breathed out, a slight smile on his face, a flash of calm in his eyes. “Of course, Captain. We will ensure you will not hear a peep from us!” Regarding the move. “Or at least the cry of a baby!” He grinned even brighter.

"Remember, every officer's quarters now possesses holo-emitters. If needed, you can create a holo-nanny to your specific standards, to be used only when you want a good night's sleep. I know the Kildares have done this. Also, be aware that when born, the child can only remain on the Tomcat for six months, long enough for any bonding to take place, then the baby has to be moved to Starbase 51 with carers or parents," the Captain responded.

Then added "Also, Lieutenant LeFebvre, there will come a time when you will be grounded and given light duties; this is non-negotiable. After a time when your body has returned to some form of normality, you will be able to return to active duty," Somers said.

Maggie nodded. "Yes, ma'am," she said. "I understand. I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt the baby anyway, and Todd won't let me anyway."

Todd shot Maggie a look. He could be controlling, to an extent where rules and engineering types are concerned. He was taught to follow the rules.

He smiled, nodding sheepishly at Maggie. He could be.

Looking at the pair, "If there is nothing else, then you are both dismissed" the Captain said.

With that, both officers left the CRR.
