----- Starbase 51 -----

As Dodd was on his leave of absence from his duties on the Tomcat, he was not necessarily relaxing. He was hard at work on a pet project of his. Now he had some assistance in the project go forward as Benson and Hawksley would be working on it with him going forward. He had been tinkering on a technology that would allow non-sentient nanites to work as a sort of new environmental suit that would allow the wearer to adapt to the situation and to allow allow for a more flexible fit for the crewmember.

As part of this process, Dodd had been working in a secluded lab at Starbase 51. He had most of the basic components in place and much of the remainder of the task involved getting the Kavian Nanite Collective to be in agreement.

After a few days of working in his lab, he gathered all his data and prepared to travel to Rigel VIII to meet with representatives that the Kavian Nanite Collective have chosen to oversee the work if the agreement was signed.

So Dodd departed to get to Rigel VIII.

----- Rigel VIII Orbital Station -----

After a day of travel, Dodd arrived at the Orbital Station to check-in with the science division. As he approached the department entrance, he noticed a pair of Bynars. They were sort of observing and as soon as Dodd came into site he was recognized by the Bynars.

He then recalled scanning through the information and seeing that he will be meeting a pair of representatives. He did not remember that they would be Bynoars. He walked over to introduce himself.

"Greetings" 11 A started. "Commander." 11 B finished. "We are here" "To represent the Kavian Nanite Collective." "We were selected as representatives" "As we our minds are not open to telepathic influences." "The Kavians know" "you are telepathic." 11 A & 11 B continued in their introduction.

"Well, I am actually glad to meet you and have you as the representatives for this project." Dodd replied. "I feel your observations and insights will be very factual and direct. I look forward to working with you on this. Also, I feel that after this project there will be a stronger union between the Kavian Nanite Collective and the Federation.

"We would like to prepare" "To depart for Starbase 51." "There is much" "Work to be done." 11 A & 11 B replied.

"Well, I respect that you are ready to work, but I need to tend to few details here before I can depart." Dodd replied. "I should only need a couple of hours and then I can be ready for the transport back to Starbase 51."

"Very well" "We will" "Be in" "the lounge" 11 A and 11 B responded and then turned to walk away towards the lounge.
"Great, see you in a couple of hours." Dodd stated as the pair were slowly and rhythmically walking away.

oO Wow, I forgot about Bynars not being able to be read by telepaths. Oo Dodd thought to himself.

He turned and headed for the lead science officer to get some new tech to help with the SANS project. While the tech may not be here on this station, he would know that it would be delivered to Starbase 51 about the same time the Bynars and himself would be returning.

--After a couple of hours--

Dodd found the Bynars in the passenger lounge near where they will depart for Starbase 51. Dodd had arranged all the equipment and technology for the SANS project. Most of which would be delivered to Starbase 51 and then rest was converted to replicator files to be created on the Tomcat. Part of the supplies will be two new portable computer cores, one for Starbase 51 and one for the Tomcat. These two cores will be large enough to support the SANS and integrate with the Tomcat's systems without overloading the power supply but yet keep the SANS running. They would also be linked for data transfer via a secured subspace relay of their own. This was necessary for the Bynars to do their job as they would be on Starbase 51 for their part of this project.

As Dodd approached the 11's, they appeared to be in a dormant cycle, or something like that as part of how they conserve energy and mental activity. As he got next to them, them appeared to be 'waking up'.

"We have anticipated" "Your return to us." 11 A & 11 B responded. "Our calculations" "have alerted us" "to the departure time" "and your approach."

"Great, we will have about twelve hours on the shuttle as we will be the only passengers and they are loading the supplies we need to take with us from here to Starbase 51. By the time we arrive at our destination, Your quarters will have been prepared for you as well as the SANS Lab will be partially established and ready for the supplies that we bringing with us. The communication links for the Kavian Nanite Collective and the Bynar homeworld will all be completed by the time we arrive as well." Dodd replied.

"Thank you" "for thinking" "of all the" "little details." 11 A & 11 B replied. "We hope that our presence" "in this process of the project" "will not interfere" "with other operations." "It will be great" "for us to reconnect" "with our homeworld" "in regular intervals."

The airlock hatch opened and a crew member of the transport signals for the three of them to approach. "This will be a direct flight back to Starbase 51. It will take approximately twelve hours but there is a chance of an Ion storm on the route so we may need to divert slightly to avoid it. We will provide you with what we can, but it will be a sort of solitary ride with you being the only three passengers on this flight. There will be the pilot and a copilot, and myself as the rest for the crew were all sent on the previous transport to meet us at our destination after Starbase 51."

"Thank you, I am sure we will be fine on the trip to Starbase 51. May I ask if you got the arrangement request for my friends here. They need to be able to download to their homeworld in about four hours?" Dodd replied.

"Yes, we have made the arrangements and have devoted the VIP quarters for this purpose. There is a special communications array and power supply just for the Bynars to do what they need to due." the crew member replied. "Also, we should not hit the predicted Ion storm until about eight hours into the flight but I was told they would only need about two hours for their download process. So all should be good." the Crew member replied. "We also have a sleeping pod for you Commander as I know you did not get much downtime since your arrival from the last transport your were on."

"Well, thank you, I appreciate that. I could use a bit of recharging myself." Dodd replied and he followed the crew member and Bynars into the hatch to board the transport.
