Every year from that day on, Alex stood vigil for a full hour on the 11th of November every year duties permitting and even when she could not get away, she always remembered her promise. Now a Major, in her last vigil was seventeen days before she was due to take command of the new Marine Division being set up on Gaia Colony, a duty that did not last long thanks to the Commanding Officer of the Colony who suddenly up and vanished without warning. Doing what she could, she notified Starfleet, and they began to ship the crew off Gaia to other positions and forgo establishing a colony there.

On Stardate 239205.08, Alex arrived at Starbase 332 for her new duty; she hoped that she could remember what action was. She had been stuck behind the desk and in political and diplomatic functions for too long; she was looking forward to breaking some heads, but she figured that would be on the holodeck, not in real life. But another vigil was coming up; she just hoped that she could attend it this year. She remained on 332 for as long as she could again; it was the case of desk duty. She missed being part of the action so she requested and was granted a transfer to another posting, where for some time she was stationed on earth once again.

When 239210.15 came around, she found herself as First Officer on the USS Powell, where she remained for a few months until the Captain decided to step down and the Powell was decommissioned. On 239306.20, Alex once again found herself on Earth, but this time for advanced training, which included commanding a Starship. She ended up in the last place she wanted to be: a Major attending Starfleet Academy. Initially, it was difficult as she was the oldest student at the Academy, well, for a human, but when the other cadets found out about her combat experience, she had no problem making friends who helped her with the areas she was weakest in.

While she was at the Academy she got a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel and told that she would be needed to take temporary command of a ship which was part of a large fleet that was needed in the Thorion system, so she was put on detached duty, saying see you later to her friends she headed out, but this action did not take long as the overwhelming force she had commanded much to her surprise was enough to end things peacefully, this garnered her favour with the Admiralty, then on 239402.01 she was again on detached duty to the USS Tomcat this time as acting MCO as they had a mission that would require her skill set so once again in a short time she was back out in the Mira Sector on her Cousins ship.

It was a brief greeting from her cousin before she had to go to the bridge for duty. After the mission was complete, Alex was called into the CRR; it seemed that the Captain wanted to speak to her.

Straightening her tunic as she stepped out of the lift and walked down the small corridor which led to the Yeoman’s desk, she walked up to the Master Chief, who looked up with a big smile.

“Go right in, Colonel,” Lucy said and took secret joy in the surprised look on the Colonel's face “The Captain is expecting you,” she finished.

“Thank you, Lucy,” Alex said with a smile and walked around the desk. To her right were the doors that led onto the bridge, but the doors she was heading to led directly to the CRR. She went around the desk and walked straight into the CRR.

Jasmine was working on something when she looked up and, with a smile, “Hi, Alex!” she said, getting up and getting from behind her desk and hugging Alex. She held her at arm's length “Sorry I could not greet you better when you first arrived; I had a lot on, but I hope to make up a little for that with this meeting, as I have something to ask of you,” Jasmine said.
