**USS TOMCAT – SECURITY DEPARTMENT**

Security Incident Report
Reporting Officer: Lieutenant JG Douglas McDougal
Department: Security/Tactical
Location: Deck Five – Junior Officers' Quarters Corridor

**Incident Summary: **

At approximately 1027 hours, Security responded to reports of a disturbance in the Junior Officers' Quarters on Deck Five. Upon arrival, Lieutenant JG McDougal and Security Officer Taren Voss discovered widespread disruption within the corridor, including overturned furnishings, scattered bedding, extensive feather debris, and multiple crew members attempting to evade an aggressive terrestrial waterfowl identified as **"Gerald."**

The animal had reportedly escaped during transport from the Biology Department to Xenobiology after a crew member attempted physical contact without authorization. The resulting escape led to repeated aggressive charges against nearby personnel and significant disruption of normal shipboard operations.

Security personnel established control of the immediate area, prevented injuries to bystanders, and employed available environmental barriers to safely redirect the animal while awaiting assistance from Animal Sciences.

Following recommendations from Animal Sciences personnel, the animal was successfully lured into a secure transport carrier using lettuce without requiring the use of force or non-lethal stun measures.

**Damage Assessment: **

* One (1) overturned laundry cart.
* Multiple pillows and linens dispersed throughout corridor.
* Minor cosmetic damage to corridor furnishings.
* Extensive feather contamination requiring environmental cleanup.
* No structural damage to Starfleet property.

**Personnel Injuries: **

* No serious injuries reported.
* Several crew members sustained minor bruises and superficial scrapes while attempting to avoid the animal.
* No medical treatment beyond routine first aid was required.

**Actions Taken: **

* Secured affected corridor.
* Directed uninvolved personnel away from incident area.
* Coordinated response with Animal Sciences.
* Successfully contained and transferred escaped animal to responsible scientific personnel.
* Oversaw cleanup operations and restoration of normal conditions.

**Cause of Incident: **

Preliminary investigation indicates the incident resulted from improper handling procedures during the transport of a live terrestrial goose. Specifically, an officer attempted to pet the animal during transit, allowing it to escape containment.

Animal Sciences has been advised to review transportation procedures for live specimens and reinforce handling protocols with all personnel.

**Recommendations: **

* Mandatory review of live animal transport procedures.
* Refresher training regarding interaction with biological specimens.

* Consider use of reinforced containment carriers for aggressive terrestrial avian species.

* Advise crew that geese are not appropriate candidates for recreational interaction while aboard a starship.

**Disposition: **

Situation resolved without loss of life, significant injury, or damage to critical ship systems. Normal operations resumed following completion of cleanup.

**Personal Note (Unofficial): **

Despite persistent rumors to the contrary, Security did **not** lose a tactical engagement with a goose. Security successfully negotiated a peaceful surrender utilizing adaptive defensive tactics and appropriate botanical incentives.

**Submitted: **
