History

Personal History Sabrina, affectionately known as Bri, entered the world amidst the vibrant streets of Mexico City, Mexico. Her mother, Joselyn Velazquez nee Nielsen, had temporarily left her work designing starships for Starfleet at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars to welcome her into the world, having taken pregnancy leave. Meanwhile, her father, Ángel Velazquez, balanced his roles as a university lecturer and archaeologist, contributing to the academic spheres of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the prestigious Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia.

At the time of Sabrina's arrival, her parents were already blessed with two lively sons, Timothy and Bautista, ages three and two, respectively. The household was filled with joy at the prospect of a new addition to their tightly-knit family. The brothers eagerly embraced their role as protective older siblings, relishing in the thought of having a little sister to dote upon.

Sabrina's upbringing was marked by the rich tapestry of cultures woven into her family's identity. Raised in a multicultural environment, she experienced the dynamic interplay between her Mexican heritage and the allure of life on Mars. Her childhood was characterized by the constant comings and goings between the bustling streets of Mexico and the technologically advanced landscapes of the Martian colonies. This dual existence provided Sabrina, along with her brothers Tim and Bautista, with a unique perspective on life, enriched by the diverse experiences of two worlds.

Sabrina's lineage traced back to a tradition of hardworking individuals who toiled the Mexican lands using age-old techniques and tools. It was from her father's side that she inherited a deep-seated appreciation for manual labor and machinery. Her mother, on the other hand, instilled in her a curiosity for the inner workings of both mechanical and electronic devices, fostering a passion for tinkering and repair.

As Sabrina approached the final years of her schooling, she found herself drawn to various career expos, where a chance encounter with Marine recruiters piqued her interest. Delving into conversations about combat engineering, she saw it as an avenue perfectly suited to her skill set and aspirations. Thus, she eagerly enrolled in a Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) course at her high school, laying the groundwork for her future endeavors.

Upon graduating from high school, Sabrina embarked on a journey to the University of Texas at Austin, where she pursued a rigorous four-year Bachelor of Engineering program. Alongside her academic pursuits, she dedicated herself to ROTC training, culminating in her completion of Officer Candidate School, a testament to her commitment to service and leadership.

Following her undergraduate studies, Sabrina set her sights on San Francisco, where she seized the opportunity to attend Starfleet Academy. There, she immersed herself in the Marine track, complementing her studies with minors in Security and Engineering, thus broadening her knowledge base and skill repertoire.

Before officially commencing her career, Sabrina sought further specialization in combat engineering. Venturing to New Mexico, she underwent an intensive one-year training course for Combat Engineering School, supplemented by an elite Sapper Leader Course. This comprehensive program equipped her with the expertise needed to excel in a myriad of tasks, including engineer reconnaissance, route clearance, obstacle emplacement, breaching and demolitions operations, mine/countermine actions, bridging construction, and survivability position establishment.

During her cadet cruise, Sabrina found herself thrust into a real-world scenario, supporting operations in a volatile warzone. Despite the challenges, she distinguished herself through her exemplary performance, earning accolades for her competence and resourcefulness in the face of adversity. This experience solidified her resolve and readiness to embark on her professional journey as a combat engineer in the service of Starfleet Marines Corps.

With graduation from the Academy, she has been reassigned to the USS Tomcat's marine regiment, the 95th Rifle Regiment, and sub attached to Security with permission to work in Engineering as needed.
